Repaying one loan does not, by itself, establish that every obligation covered by an all-moneys security document has ended. Before requesting full satisfaction of a registered charge, review the instrument, all relevant facilities and the lender’s actual release position. Keep loan repayment, security discharge and the ACRA record as separate completion checks.

Identify what the security covers
Obtain the executed charge or debenture, facility letters and amendments. Ask legal advisers to interpret the scope, including any continuing, contingent or other covered obligations.
Do not assume the security secures all group debts merely because it uses broad language. The actual parties and wording matter.
Example: the term loan is cleared, the facility remains open
The company repays a term loan, but another facility or contingent exposure remains. Give advisers the complete position before instructing a full satisfaction filing. A statement showing the term-loan balance as zero is only one part of the evidence.
Prepare a secured-obligations schedule
- Registered charge number and instrument.
- Borrower, chargor and lender identities.
- Relevant facilities and amendments.
- Amounts outstanding and contingent exposures.
- Repayment, cancellation and release correspondence.
- Any property or obligations intended to remain secured.
Separate a lender’s acknowledgement of payment from its agreement to release the security. Review any conditions still to be completed.
Select the proper filing from the actual facts
ACRA’s satisfaction guidance covers full or partial satisfaction and calls for the original charge number, satisfaction date and supporting documents.
Ask the secretary and legal advisers which filing reflects the agreed result. Do not describe a partial repayment as a full release or choose a convenient date without support.
Keep the final evidence together
Retain the repayment records, actual discharge or release documents and official filing outcome. Check the resulting record rather than assuming the instruction was processed.
Review personal guarantees and other security separately. Ending one instrument should not be assumed to release every guarantor or asset connected with the borrowing.
Is a zero loan balance enough to remove every charge?
No. Establish the full secured position and release terms.
Does the ACRA filing replace a legal security review?
No. The filing should reflect the transaction actually completed.
