Part-time Re-employment Grant: S$2,500 per Senior Worker (to 2027)

The New Part-time Re-employment Grant (PTRG) is a Singapore Government grant from MOM and the Skills and Workforce Development Agency (SWDA), administered by the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF). It pays employers S$2,500 for each Singapore Citizen or PR worker aged 60 and above, capped at 50 workers (S$125,000), when the company commits to part-time re-employment, flexible work arrangements and structured career planning for older staff. Any Singapore-registered employer with at least one eligible senior worker can apply once. Applications reopened on 18 December 2025 and the grant runs until December 2027.

Why the PTRG matters more after July 2026

On 1 July 2026, Singapore’s retirement age rose to 64 and the re-employment age to 69. Employers now have more staff in their sixties and need workable ways to keep them, often on reduced hours. The PTRG pays a one-off sum to employers who put the right policies in place.

The PTRG is different from the Senior Employment Credit (SEC). The SEC is an automatic IRAS wage offset of up to 7% of wages for Singapore Citizen workers aged 60 and above earning up to S$4,000 a month, extended to December 2027. The PTRG is a separate, application-based grant tied to HR policy commitments, with its own conditions. Our guide to the SEC, EEC and CPF Transition Offset payouts covers the automatic credits, and our article on senior worker CPF contribution rates explains the payroll side.

Who is eligible?

Requirement Details
Employer registration Legally registered or incorporated in Singapore. Societies, charities and voluntary welfare organisations can apply. Government agencies, statutory boards and other organs of state cannot.
Senior worker At least one worker aged 60 or above at both the point of application and the point of claim.
Worker’s status Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Not related to the company The senior worker must not be an ACRA-listed director or shareholder of the company (or a related entity), or a spouse, ex-spouse, child, parent, parent-in-law or sibling of one.
No previous PTRG Companies that successfully claimed the PTRG before, including the earlier tranche (applications from 1 July 2020 to 31 December 2022) through SNEF or e2i, cannot apply.

This means owner-managed companies should count carefully. If the only staff aged 60 and above are the founder, a co-director or a family member, the company does not have an eligible senior worker.

What must the company commit to?

To be eligible for the claim, a company that has not received the PTRG before must do all five of the following:

  1. Offer part-time re-employment to eligible senior workers who ask for it.
  2. Adopt the Tripartite Standard on Age-Friendly Workplace Practices. This is a public commitment to a set of good age-management practices.
  3. Offer flexible work arrangements (FWAs) to employees as part of the company’s formal HR policy. FWAs can be flexi-place, flexi-time or flexi-load (different workload with matching pay).
  4. Implement structured career planning for mature and senior workers aged 45 and above as part of HR policy.
  5. Send two people to SNEF’s workshops: one member of senior management and one HR practitioner, each to one session of the fully funded structured career planning workshop for their group.

Our employer guide to flexible work arrangements explains how to write an FWA policy that also meets the Tripartite Guidelines on FWA requests.

How much funding can you get?

The computation is simple: count your eligible senior workers and multiply by S$2,500, up to 50 workers.

Eligible senior workers (60 and above) Grant
1 S$2,500
5 S$12,500
20 S$50,000
50 or more S$125,000 (maximum)

Each company can receive PTRG funding only once, so time your application for when your senior headcount is at a realistic level. The grant operates on a claim-based reimbursement model: you put the policies and workshops in place and then claim.

How do you apply?

SNEF is the sole appointed programme partner. Applications are free of charge, but they must be submitted directly by the employer. SNEF will not accept applications made by consultants, vendors or individuals who are not on the company’s payroll or ACRA records. MOM, SWDA and SNEF do not endorse any consultant or vendor.

  1. Check the senior worker list. Pull a list of Singapore Citizen and PR staff aged 60 and above from payroll, and remove directors, shareholders and their relatives.
  2. Prepare your HR policy documents. Draft or update your part-time re-employment, FWA and structured career planning policies.
  3. Adopt the Tripartite Standard on Age-Friendly Workplace Practices.
  4. Register two staff for the SNEF workshops (one senior manager, one HR practitioner).
  5. Submit the application on the SNEF Grants Portal (grants.snef.org.sg) using SNEF’s step-by-step guide. Complete applications are prioritised on a first-come, first-served basis.
  6. Submit the claim once the conditions are met, confirming that you still have at least one eligible senior worker at the point of claim.

SNEF has not published a fixed processing time on its PTRG page. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval.

Documents checklist

SNEF’s application guide sets out the exact uploads required. Check it before you start, as the list above is a practical starting point rather than the official list.

Example: a precision engineering SME

Example: A 60-person precision engineering company has 14 staff aged 60 and above. One of them is the founder’s brother, who is also a shareholder. Two machinists aged 63 have asked to cut down to four days a week.

The figures are illustrative. SNEF confirms the eligible headcount at assessment.

Common reasons applications fail

Frequently asked questions

Do the senior workers have to be part-time?

No. The grant is computed on the number of resident senior workers aged 60 and above. The commitment is to offer part-time re-employment to eligible senior workers who request it, not to move everyone onto part-time hours.

Can a foreign-owned Singapore company apply?

Yes, if it is legally registered or incorporated in Singapore and has eligible Singapore Citizen or PR senior workers. Foreign employees do not count towards the grant.

What is structured career planning?

It is a structured, regular conversation between the company and employees aged 45 and above about their career and development plans, so that both sides can plan for longer careers. SNEF and MOM publish a Structured Career Planning Guidebook to help employers set it up.

Can we claim the PTRG and the Senior Employment Credit together?

They are separate schemes run by different bodies. The SEC is paid automatically by IRAS on qualifying wages, while the PTRG is a one-off grant for adopting senior-friendly HR practices. Neither the PTRG factsheet nor the IRAS SEC page lists the other scheme as an exclusion, but confirm with SNEF if you are unsure.

What is the deadline?

The New PTRG has been extended until December 2027. SNEF has not published a separate closing date for applications, so apply well before the end of 2027 to leave time for the workshops and the claim.

Where the PTRG fits among other grants

Many companies combine the PTRG with job redesign support, for example to make roles workable for older staff. See our guide to the SkillsFuture Workforce Development Grant (Job Redesign+) and our directory of Singapore government grants for companies. The official sources are SNEF’s New Part-time Re-employment Grant page and SWDA’s PTRG listing on OurWorkforce.

Because SNEF accepts applications only from the employer itself, outside advisers can help you check eligibility, draft the HR policies and organise your documents, but your own staff must submit the application and the claim.

Information checked against official sources on 6 November 2026.
